BAY COUNTY RED KEEPS ROLLING ON IN THE PONY WORLD SERIES!
In an elimination game Bay County, MI rode a three run second inning to take down Guaynabo, PR 3-1.
It looked as if Bay County was going to strike in the first inning after Jeffrey Hartman single with runners on first and second, but Guaynabo center fielder Geraniel Nieves gunned down the runner at home to end the threat.
Guaynablo's defense couldn't keep Bay County off the board in the second, however. With the bases loaded following a Jack Wetters single, Andrew Shufelt double, and Ryan Brey walk, a wild pitch sent home the first of three runs in the inning. The other two runs came in on an Aiden Revette single and error. The inning gave them a 3-0 lead.
John Lopez led the Guaynabo charge to come back with a solo home run to make the score 3-1. His homer was followed by Jeyden Flores reaching on an error and Kenneth Boria moving to third with a double. The bases were juiced after Khenluis Lopez walked but Bay County pitcher Jaxin Jenkins escaped barely scathed.
Jenkins had an outstanding game on the mound for Bay County, only allowing two hits. He went the full seven innings and struck out an impressive 10 batters. He allowed one run on the home run.
Khenluis Lopez started for Guaynabo on the mound as he went four full innings while allowing three runs on seven hits. Carlos Aponte came in for relief and went two and a third innings while allowing no hits. He struck out five. Luis Matos closed out the game striking out both batters.
Bay County racked up seven hits in the game with Revette going 3-for-3 with an RBI.
