BAY COUNTY 3
The Bay County Pony League third All-Star team was eliminated from the Michigan Region 1 tournament on Saturday. They were defeated by Central Michigan in the 12:30 game 20-7. The loss placed them into the Losers Bracket where they had to play another game at 3:15 against Grand Ledge. They had defeated Grand Ledge earlier in the event but this time Grand Ledge turned the tables on Bay County 3 and handed the team their second loss 10-3.
The loss ends the Tournament Season for the third All Star team but they end the Region 1 Tournament with a 2-2 record. The Players, Manager and Coaches all deserve our thanks for a job well done in 2014.
The Great Lakes Bay Area Colt team completed their run in the COLT ZONE losing 2-games on Friday and exiting the event. Manager Gib Garcia and his team had a great run this season but just couldn't get it done. Great job to all of the Players you did us proud again in 2014.
After a few years of missing out of Title Game Grampa Tony's West made the wait worth while taking the Championship crown for the 2014 Season Sunday at Coryell Field.
The Champs had to play 2-hard games against the 2013 Champs Bay City Lions Club to get there. Coming through the Losers Bracket Bay City Lions Club forced the if necessary by downing Grampa Tony's West 3-2. This setup a final winner take all game.
Both teams played their best games and kept it close until the 5-inning when Grampa Tony's West made their break by battling back to capture the lead and never looked back. They downed Bay City Lions Club 7-4 to take the Champions for 2014.
Manager Tom Debo and his Coaches had a great group of players who played hard all season and after a long 22-game season plowed through the Overall with a solid 4-1 record.
Bay City Lions Club Manager Dan Revette, his coaches, and his players made a great run trying to catch the eventual Champs with a 4-2 record in the overall.
